There are different domestic airlines in India that you can consider if you wish to travel from one city/town to another within the country.
There was a time when there were only few domestic airlines in India but this has changed in the last couple of years because new airlines have come up and they now have a stake in the aviation industry.
In this piece of writing, I am going to discuss about some of the domestic airlines in India that you can consider flying if you are planning to visit a place within the nation
- Air India- Air India is one of the first airlines that were started in the country and today, it is one of the popular choices for domestic airlines in India. This carrier is owned by the Government and it first started its operation in the year 1932. This airline is incorporated with Indian airlines and together they fly people to different parts of the country.
- Indian Airlines- Indian Airlines is one of the domestic airlines in India and it was started in the year 1953. This airline travels to fifty destinations in the country and to thirteen destinations outside India.
- Kingfisher Airlines- Kingfisher airlines is one of the top domestic airlines in India at present. The service offered by this carrier is fabulous. In fact, some passengers are of the opinion that compared to all other domestic airlines in India, Kingfisher airlines is the best of all.
It was first started in the year 2005 and it has its base in Bangalore. Skytrax has given it a five star rating because of its excellent service and at present, Kingfisher Airlines has two services classes: Business and economy.
- SpiceJet- SpiceJet is one of the one of the low-cost domestic airlines in India and it is based in New Delhi It first started it operations in the year 2005 and in terms of market share, it is considered to be the second largest low cost airline in the country. It flies to eighteen destinations in the country at present.
- Jet Airways- Jet Airways is an airline that flies to different parts of India as well as to other international locations. It is one of the most preferred choices for passengers who wish to fly to other cities in the country.
In the year 2008, smarttravelasia.com ranked Jet Airways as the seventh best airline in the world. There are two low-cost airlines that are operated by Jet Airways and they are Jet Airways Konnect and JetLite.
- IndiGo- This is one of the low cost domestic airlines in India. Based in Haryana, IndiGo connects to seventeen destinations in the country so you can consider this airline if you are planning to travel within India. In the year 2008, it was awarded as the ‘Best Domestic Low Cost Carrier’ in the country.
